Low Cost Rabies Vaccine at CCSPCA

The Chester County SPCA is sponsoring a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic on June 17th from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the shelter at 1212 Phoenixville Pike in West Chester.

The one-year vaccines, which cost $7, will be administered by Dr. Shannon Stanek, DVM. State law requires rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats over three months of age.

All pets brought to the clinic should be on a leash or in a carrier. Appointments are not necessary. For additional information, call 610-692-6113 or visit www.ccspca.org

This Week's Topic: Learning That Coupon Lingo!

One of the most common questions that I am asked is: "I don't understand what your coupon abbreviations mean. How do I know where to find the coupon you're writing about?"

Get ready for a crash course in Couponing Terms!

When I write about deals that I find at the store using coupons, I will typically write the coupon similar to this: $.75/1 RP 4/5.

Translation: I used a coupon from the April 5th Red Plum insert. Its value is 75 cents off of 1 item.

Here are some common coupon related abbreviations:
SS: SmartSource insert
RP: Red Plum insert
P&G: Proctor and Gamble insert
Unilever: Unilever Insert
DND: Do not double
DNT: Do not triple
YMMV: Your mileage may vary (what works for one person at one store may or may not work for you)
B1G1/BOGO: Buy one get one
WYB: When you buy
OYNO: On your next order
OOP: Out of pocket

Frugal Friday: Quick, Cute, and Cheap Mother's Day Craft

Ok, so it's 2 days until Mother's Day. Are you stumped for ideas for gifts for the special women in your kids' lives? You need something that's cute and you need it fast, right? And, let's not forget that it needs to be affordable!

Here's an idea for a super inexpensive, but very sentimental craft project that you still have time to have done by Sunday!

Here's what you need:

• 1 White Bathroom/Kitchen Tile ( I used 6x8 tiles that I found at Lowes for .58 cents each, but any size you want would work)

• A few different colors of acrylic paint. I used acrylic because it was kid friendly and cleaned up easily with soap and water, while still being permanent enough to use with the tiles. (Each bottle of acrylic paint that I picked up at Michaels was $2.49 each)

• 1 Decorative Plate Holder (Our local dollar store has the 9" plate holders that I used in silver, gold, and black finishes. And, yep, they're just $1.00! )

• Some paintbrushes

Use your creativity to make any design on your tile to tell Mom, Grandmom, God Mother, Aunts, etc. how much you love them this Mother's Day. I used my older daughter's handprint and my younger daughter's footprint, but their are a million ways to decorate the tile. You could stamp them, stencil them, have the kids paint on them, use sayings or verses ...... the options are endless.

We made 6 different tiles and they dried in no time. They look ADORABLE on their plate stand sitting on a kitchen table, a shelf, or a mantle!

Who’s the one with the stinky pants?

Baby Clean Fun is a CD of 16 short, catchy tunes that turn challenging daily tasks into fun parent-child bonding moments.

I recently had the opportunity to talk to Baby Clean Fun, co-creator Michelle Cruz and asked her a few questions about how the idea for the CD was born.

The idea for the CD came up when co-creator Beth, mother of 3, would sing "Mr. Washcloth" to her baby to distract her and clean her up after meals. The song was so catchy that Michelle remembered it and sang it to her children. Amazingly, Michelle had the same reaction that Beth had. Singing the song made after meal clean up a breeze!

The two friends, thought if this could work with cleaning up after meals, it would certainly work with other challenges like getting baby to eat, washing little hands, and putting on shoes... just to name a few. Before they knew it there were 16 songs for 15 different tasks.
